Its week 15, and we have come to the end of our journey. The season that we seem to wait forever for, is over just like that. Yes, I know that we still have bowl season, but I refuse to acknowledge bowls as an actual portion of the college football season. As far as I'm concerned, the season ends Saturday. After that, there will be a mythical national championship game sometime in mid-January, preceded by dozens upon dozens of meaningless exhibition games, involving teams that most of us haven't cared about over the last four months.

Speaking of that, I love the argument that bowl-proponents bring up that a playoff will "make the other bowl games meaningless." Laughable. Quick, who won last year's Poinsettia Bowl? Unless you A) are a fan of the team that won, B) are a fan of the team that lost, or C) had a memorable gambling experience associated with the game, you have no idea. There is nothing that could make that game more meaningless than it is right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'll watch the meaningless bowl games (gambling!) but I won't enjoy them, nor am I under any sort of illusion that they mean anything.

In any event, we only have one more week left people, so lets enjoy it.

Why is it that in a weekend replete with Championship Games, and rivalry grudge matches, we are subjected to these piece of shit games involving Big East and Pac-10 teams playing out the string? Any of these games stand out to you? The only ones that catch my eye are Washington, going for a perfect 0-12 season (fingers crossed!) and Cincinnati, taking the 9 hour (or whatever it is) flight out to play Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors love to feast on travel-weary teams from the mainland that make the trek out there to play them at bizarre kickoff times. The Bearcats better watch out and make sure their jet-lag doesn't get the best of them!

Army vs. Navy (-10.5) - Noon - One of the great spectacles in college sports. Not great football, but an entertaining game nonetheless, just because of the passion and pageantry involved. Admittedly, I know very little about these teams, other than the fact that Navy runs the option and Army isn't very good. I usually take Army, just because I like to cheer for a close game in this matchup, so I will stick with that.

ACC Championship Game - BC vs. Virginia Tech - 1pm - The game that literally hundreds of fans attended last year in Jacksonville is back.

A standoff at a bank in the U.S. state of New Jersey is over after police learned a "person" seen inside was actually a full-size cardboard figure.

Officers went to the PNC Bank in Montgomery Township on Thursday night after an alarm went off.

They saw what they thought was at least one person through the windows of the bank, which had its blinds drawn.

The area was sealed off and three nearby apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

Authorities used bullhorns and made telephone calls in a bid to make contact with whoever might be in the bank. After getting no response, a SWAT team entered the building and discovered the cardboard figure.

It was not immediately clear what set off the bank alarm.

Cyber criminals target Facebook users

Facebook has been infiltrated by Nigerian scammers and other cyber criminals who use compromised accounts to con users out of cash.

Now that even non-tech savvy internet users know not to respond to, or click on links in, emails from strangers, online thieves have turned to social networks and are finding it is easier to trick people when posing as their friends.

On Friday, Sydneysider Karina Wells received a Facebook message from one of her friends, Adrian, saying he was stranded in Lagos, Nigeria, and needed her to lend him $500 for a ticket home.

Adrian used relatively good English but, after chatting further, words such as "cell" instead of "mobile phone" tipped Wells off that she was not talking to her friend but someone who had taken over his account.

Using sites such as Facebook allows scammers to research and target victims more effectively and avoid having their messages blocked by spam filters, said Paul Ducklin, head of technology at Sophos Asia Pacific.

It is likely the scammer obtained Adrian's Facebook login details after he was infected with a virus delivered by email or in an infected web page.

There are a number of viruses which, once installed on a computer, send back to the hacker a detailed log of everything entered using the keyboard, including online banking details and passwords for services such as Facebook.

Wells played along with the scammer, who asked her to transfer the money into a Western Union account.

"Naturally I was concerned as, to all intents and purposes, this seemed to be legitimate," she said.

"I pretended that I would help, obtained all the details of where he was and forwarded them to both Facebook and the relevant authorities."

But while the Nigerian scammer used the compromised Facebook account coupled with social engineering tactics to try to convince Wells to hand over money, many are using compromised accounts to spread malware.

Typically, the victim receives a Facebook message from a friend with a subject such as "LOL. You've been catched on hidden cam, yo" or "Nice dancing! Shouldn't you be ashamed?"

The body of the message contains a video clip link that appears to go to a legitimate site such as Facebook or YouTube but, when clicked on, it takes the user to a bogus web page.

Before the users can play the video they are told they need to download a video player upgrade, which is in fact a password-stealing virus.

The next time the victim logs into Facebook the malware-laden message is sent to all of their friends and the infected link is automatically added in comments on friends' pages.

Other less sophisticated attacks on Facebook members use spam emails, some appearing to come from Facebook itself, to spread viruses.

In September security firm WebSense reported on spam emails, purportedly sent from an @facebookmail.com address, that tell the victim they have received an invitation from Facebook to add a friend.

"The spammers included a zip attachment that purports to contain a picture in order to entice the recipient to double-click on it. The attached file is actually a Trojan horse," WebSense said.

I landed in Honolulu Friday and we have set up a fully functional "fighting camp" to prepare for the court hearing Tuesday, November 18th at 10:30 A.M. on access to Barack Obama's birth certificate

This will be the first court hearing anywhere on access to the original, 1961 certificate. The only state that has jurisdiction over such a lawsuit is Hawai'i, because Hawai'i officials are the custodians of the 1961 typewritten paperwork.

Before we get to the back story, let me start with a disclaimer. I have no idea what the judge will do on Tuesday. I make no predictions, except one: I will prepare to the best of my ability and present as professional a case as the judge permits. Monday morning I will be on the street serving papers and filing with the Clerk in preparation for Tuesday.

And, looking ahead, whatever happens on Tuesday, on Wednesday we hope to launch my "Conversation With America" about our future course of action in an Obama administration. I invite all of you to join in and support this mission.

Just as the FBI always attends every Gambino Family funeral to see who is there, ContrarianCommentary.com was in Honolulu Friday to observe the "independent" (not family-sponsored) "memorial service" held in memory of Barack Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. We will have a full column later Sunday, or possibly Monday.

It occurred to me that you might appreciate some insight into the effort that goes into preparing and presenting a major piece of litigation 8,000 miles away from home.

Anyone who has read our Memorandum of Law (see the ContrarianCommentary.com blogs below for a full copy) will not be surprised that it took us the better part of a week to analyze, research, write and finalize a 25-page document (which we will be filing with the Clerk on Monday morning) setting forth why Obama's birth certificate must be made public.

If a large law firm was handling the case of Martin vs. Obama, they would probably send a minimum team of four lawyers as well as support personnel. They would have a trial counsel, a couple of associates, and a senior partner to guide the overall process. There would be at least one paralegal, possibly more. That's why high stakes litigation is so costly.

Martin vs. Obama is a high stakes lawsuit: it seeks to open a vital record of American history to public review and analysis.

And I will be working alone.

Ask any lawyer: it's not easy landing in a strange town, setting up an office and firing off legal documents in a controversial constitutional case. But we managed to file the lawsuit two days after arriving in Honolulu in October, and now we are back for the first court hearing anywhere to address the issue of Barack Obama's origins.

Landing in an unfamiliar city, any lawyer would need a support network. We managed to recreate our October "fighting camp" in 24 hours and are up and running. I dragged a printer on the 12 hour flight because we have to be able to react immediately to any development. Saturday morning we were out assembling office supplies to be ready to move quickly on Monday morning.

I even purchased a box of envelopes so that if we have a breather, we can start mailing out thank you notes to everyone who contributed to the financial support of this very costly and complex venture. There is no wasted time on a trip of this nature, and no wasted money.

I will take time off Sunday morning to attend services at Saint Andrews (Episcopal) cathedral in downtown Honolulu. And I forgot to pack my sunglasses, so I need to go shopping for a pair.

Unlike other lawsuits involving Obama, mine is narrowly and specifically focused on access to the original, typewritten 1961 certificate which Hawai'i officials have confirmed they possess. There is no way anyone can express an opinion on the circumstances of Obama's birth without seeing the vital gateway document. I have refrained from speculating on the contents of the original because my focus is on expressing an informed opinion (a term CNN once made fund of).

Mr. Obama and his Chicago crew have been very crafty in creating a cloud of confusion over the "abstract" that he furnished to FactCheck.org as a purported original birth certificate, when obviously it was nothing of the sort. Many millions of people were confused even though the term "abstract" was clearly visible on the FactCheck.org site (and even though FactCheck.org seems to have missed that significance, as well).

We will also be continuing and conducting the research and investigation we began in October to document Obama's origins in Hawai'i with interviews and contacts with people who knew his family and the other "players" in the Honolulu dramas of the 1970's and 80's.

As these comments are being prepared Sunday morning I can only conclude with a sense of deep humility at the enormity of the task and the nature of the burden. I continue to bear Barack Obama no ill will. Nevertheless, I passionately and sincerely believe that he owes the American people a detailed exposition of both his personal and his family history, and that he has not been candid with the American people. Without candor, he will not be able to establish the legitimacy that is essential for national leadership. He remains a stranger to the American people.

Barack Obama and his character assassins such as Robert Gibbs have done everything they can to demonize and defeat and intimidate me. They have failed utterly and abjectly. Tuesday morning I will stand up in court, stand tall, and stand proud for every American who believes Barack Obama needs to start telling the truth about himself. The election may be over. But the search for the truth about Mr. Obama is continuing.

6. Ancient history. Hey, did you know that the Eagles have won multiple NFL championships? It's true. Break out the history books and become insufferable and sad as you talk about Steve van Buren and Norm van Brocklin. When Dutch guys ruled the NFL, that's when it was really at its best.

5. More obvious sado-masochism. Seriously, why be so mundane with your self-hurt? Today's game against the Ravens could have been more interestingly experienced by smearing honey on your taint and mounting a fire ant hill. You could also have gone for a scientific study of the worst place to get a paper cut. Or, for that matter, an extended determination of your best possible ipecac. Don't be so limited!

4. Porn. Oh, porn, is there anything you can't make better? Judging from the site that you are reading this, no.

3. Working out. Let your unbridled hate of everything your football team has become drive you to a better body. Just pump up the angriest music you can find, lay into a supply of excessively short-sighted nutritional "supplements", and let the hate make you hard. Hey, it's better than taking the Andy Reid Donuts And More Donuts way out...

2. Other sports. Why not get yourself a DVD of that Phillies playoff run? It's surprisingly positive, especially if you shut yourself off from any news of how the team isn't likely to resign Pat Burrell, and how Chase Utley is probably going to be out until June with hip surgery.

Or you could also give the NBA a spin, seeing how the Sixers have a .500 team that just lost to an awful Timberwolves team, and are looking up in the division to teams from New York and Boston. That's refreshingly different!

Moaning and bitching about how unhappy you are about the Eagles, then listening to other people say the same thing, only in ways that almost make you happy that they are in pain. Remember, together, you can convince yourselves that you matter at all.

Last week I was robbed of that Steelers game like a lot of Vegas, but at least I didn't have real cash on it. Nevertheless, I went 7-8 vs the spread, and now sit at 70-73 after the Pittsburgh win and cover on Thursday night. Here are my picks for week 12.

It's been another wild week for the Browns, as their QB has a fractured finger, and their GM is dropping F-bombs in emails to fans. The weather should not be so good in Cleveland, and that could play in the hands of the Browns. But, Steve Slaton is running well, a bright spot for the Texans, and I don't trust the Cleveland D, which is just awful. The Texans bounce back and finally get a win. Houston 27 Cleveland 21

Buffalo (-3) at Kansas City

The Bills have fallen apart, losing at home Monday night because of a shanked kick by Rian Lindell in the end. Now they go to KC, where the Chiefs continue to play hard, but just don't have enough to get wins week in and week out. I think the Bills may realize that their 08 season is just about over, and I'll throw caution to the win and give the Chiefs a rare home win. Kansas City 20 Buffalo 17

NY Jets at Tennessee (-5.5)

The Jets are red hot after Thursday night's huge OT win over the Pats on the road. It gets no easier here, as the Titans are playing great, undefeated and overcoming odds week in and week out. They were down 14-3 early to the Jags last week, but again were able to come back. Look for Brett Favre and that Jets offense to have a tough day vs the Titans, and for the boys in blue to move to 11-0. Tennessee 20 NY Jets 10

New England at Miami (-1)

The Dolphins are thinking...gulp...playoffs? Yes, this team has what it takes at 6-4 to make it as a wild card, or even the AFC East champs, but this is a HUGE game for them. They beat the Pats in week three, but Matt Cassel is playing much better, and the Pats have been pretty good even though they are nowhere near where they were a year ago. The Fins need a better game than they had a week ago vs the Hawks, and I think they will again run over NE here at home. Miami 27 New England 23


San Francisco at Dallas (-10)

Tough spot here for the 49'ers, as the Cowboys are back on track after a huge road win in DC last Sunday night. They are going to come home with Tony Romo back in the fold, and they should be able to do what they do best, play good on offense vs a bad Niners D, and dominate Shaun Hill and make plays in the 49'ers backfield. I like the Cowboys in a big way at home. Dallas 31 San Francisco 14

Tampa Bay (-8.5) at Detroit

Will the Lions ever win? Maybe, but it won't be here against old friend Jeff Garcia and a pretty good Bucs team. I like the Bucs defense to stomp all over the Lions, and the Detroit D will do what it does best - give up a lot of yards on the ground and points on the board. Garica will make some plays, and it will be another long day at Ford Field. Tampa Bay 29 Detroit 20

Philadelphia at Baltimore (-1)

A very tough game to call, as the Ravens have been playing well up until they were beaten up bad last week by the Giants. The Eagles are going to play with a chip on their shoulder after an ugly tie vs the Bengals on the road. The Eagles can do some things here, but the Ravens strive on their fans at home, and that defense and running game will get back on track while they will hold down Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook enough to win. Baltimore 16 Philadelphia 10

Chicago (-8.5) at St.Louis

The Bears played an awful game at Green Bay last Sunday, and will take out their frustrations on a bad Rams team Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome. The Rams will be without Steven Jackson, and at this point are playing out the stretch just looking towards the offseason. Look for a big day for Kyle Orton and Matt Forte, and the Rams to roll with a lot of Bears fans in the stands. Chicago 34 St.Louis 21

Minnesota at Jacksonville (-2)

I have no idea what to make of this game. The Jags look like a team that is going backwards, and I thought they were playing well last week till the third quarter and then things got out of control in losing to the Titans. The Vikings could not run, nor protect Gus Frerotte, and despite having a lead were not able to stop the Bucs in the end. I think the Vikings are a better team, and I guess based on that I'll take them. Minnesota 21 Jacksonville 14

Carolina at Atlanta (-1)

The huge game in the NFC South this week, and the Falcons need to win if they have any visions at all of coming back to win the South title. The Panthers are not playing their best football, but the run game did more than enough to beat the Lions and set team records in the process. I think the Panthers D will control Matt Ryan and Michael Turner enough to eek out a huge win and expand on their lead in the division. Carolina 26 Atlanta 24

Oakland at Denver (-9.5)

Mike Shanahan has never forgiven Al Davis for firing him years back, and this is the perfect spot for the Broncos to again run it up on the Raiders. Oakland is having a tough time scoring, and while the D is trying to hang in there, I think the Broncos are starting to play like they did in the first three weeks of the season. I like the Broncos in a route. Denver 37 Oakland 17

Washington (-3.5) at Seattle

The Hawks are a terrible team, and while the Skins lost last week, they come to Seattle playing much better than the Hawks. Last week the team was a bit banged up, but should get their big horses back, plus don't forget Jim Zorn and Shaun Alexander come back to Seattle, and the rest of the Skins will want to win it for them as much as themselves. Look for a Redskins win here. Washington 24 Seattle 14

NY Giants (-3) at Arizona

Could this be an NFC Title game preview? How nuts would that be to have former Giants QB Kurt Warner looking to get to the dance again against one of his former teams. In this one, the Cards at home can do some things against that Giants defense. I think that the Giants may be a bit on edge with Brandon Jacobs being banged up, and the Cards will do what they do - throw, and throw a lot. Something tells me Arizona is out to take a big step to the next level here. Arizona 21 NY Giants 20

Indianapolis at San Diego (-3)

Have the odds makers watched the Chargers this year? I guess not, because the Chargers are not a very good team. The Colts may be playing their best ball of the year, and while I think this one has the makings of a shoot-out, I think that the Colts are the better team, and they know a win here is a huge step towards the playoffs. The season basically ends for the Chargers with a loss here. Indianapolis 31 San Diego 29


Monday Night:

Green Bay at New Orleans (-2.5)

Reggie Bush could be back for the Saints, giving them a big lift. They got the monkey off their back with a road win last week in KC, and now here at home I think they outplay a Packers team that comes in off a huge win over the Bears at home last week. The Saints have got to start playing better, and I think on the national stage it starts here.

Luckily for McDonald's, those crappy prizes have long since been forgotten by most people.
